Why it is in the guide

The pub’s story

Whiski Bar & Restaurant is a modern independent whisky-and-food stop at 119 High Street, rather than an inherited historic pub. Trade sources and the operator’s own archive place its launch in 2007 under Gary and Anne Still; a contemporary licensing record already lists Whiski at this address that autumn. In 2011 it won the DRAM Whisky Bar of the Year award as the group opened Whiski Rooms nearby. Today it is built around more than 300 Scotch malts, all-day Scottish food and free traditional music every evening. This is the practical choice for a late Royal Mile dram with a full meal rather than a museum-piece interior. The setting is busy and visitor-facing, but the venue keeps walk-in space, has level street access and runs later than the kitchen. Whisky tastings are offered through its sister venue, Whiski Rooms.
