Accessibility
Our aim is to make the guide understandable, operable and useful across common devices and assistive technologies.
Last updated 21 August 2026Our approach
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA where practical. This is an aim, not a claim that every part of the current app has been independently certified.
The app uses semantic headings and landmarks, visible keyboard focus, labelled controls, alt text for meaningful images, scalable layouts, reduced-motion support and text alternatives around map-based information.
Known challenges
Interactive maps and some third-party services can be harder to use with a keyboard or screen reader. Pub addresses and ordered stop lists are provided alongside maps where possible. Historic venue information supplied by third parties may not always describe every access need.
Colour contrast, zoom behaviour and mobile layouts are checked during development, but combinations of browser, device and assistive technology can reveal barriers we have not encountered.
Tell us about a barrier
Email admin@whilstyourehere.com with the page, device or assistive technology involved and what you were trying to do. We will acknowledge the report and work toward a practical fix. You can also ask for app information in a more accessible format.
Venue accessibility
Whilst You’re Here is an independent guide and cannot guarantee physical access at a venue. Check current arrangements directly with the venue before travelling, particularly for step-free entry, toilets, seating, lighting, noise and assistance-dog access.
